The Family Courts have released a document called “Australian Standards of Practice of Family Assessments and Reports“.

Family Reports are often agreed to by parents to give them some insight and guidance about how to best structure their parenting arrangements.  Family Report writers have a difficult task of interviewing and assessing the family interactions and making recommendations for both the parties and the courts.

Family Reports can often be incorporated in dispute resolution processes such as mediation to assist the parties to reach an agreement about how to arrange their time with their children.
